When Beah started murdering people I was shocked he could do such a thing, and the drugs he did too. Beah most likely starting killing people and using marijuana and cocaine as a coping mechanism. To numb his pain, which he has been through a lot. He’s changing a lot. Before, he couldn’t stand seeing the dead bodies everywhere he turned. Now he’s shooting people, and slitting their throats. I feel like he thinks he is in control now, and now he can be fearless and powerful. “I stood there holding my gun and felt special because I was a part of something that took me seriously and I was not running from anyone anymore.” P.124

If I was a family member of someone who Beah murdered I would feel hatred towards him. But, I wouldn’t want to kill him either. Just because you’re in pain doesn’t mean you can hurt someone the same way they hurt you. It doesn’t do any good. But, no one deserves to be ripped away from life for no reason.

  1. Anyone would hate the person who killed their family member. So, I definitely agree with you.

A lot of people do not know the background of Beah like we do though. As we talked about during our discussion, most people whose family member died does not look at the background of the killer. Beah murdered people because he is part of their military now and this is his way of surviving.
