Journal 8 Collin Thacker

(My mother who always told me to do hard but quality work with her degrees)

The profile that meant the most to me would have to be The Sanitation Workers (page 125). One quote would be “I work with him, he’ll work with me”. (Callings: The Purpose and Passion of Work by Dave Isay page 126). This shows that there is cooperation between these two and they are willing to work together to get the job done.

The fact that all these people have found their true calling in life that they love to get up every morning and do. It goes beyond a job. It goes on a career. It s basically a way of life and a standard to live by to produce quality work and love it.  I always try to put the customer first and understand there needs/wants so i can do my best to provide that for them.

An interesting word i found was “sync” or “synchronize” which means to harmonize or come together. Working in union.
I also knew that to have your calling it might not be the most amount of money being paid even though that’s not the reason for choosing it.
My research question is how much money do sanitation workers make anyway?
Answer: $12.63 in Ohio

  1. This profile connected to me as well because my dad works for The City of Marion. I also did my journal 8 over this too.

  2. Wow 12.63 is not a lot of money to make for all the work that a sanitation worker does!

  3. I like how your mom has all of her achievements, diplomas and stuff on the wall, its crazy how she has all of that and is still in school for another thing.

  4. Hey Collin! I enjoyed reading your post! I really like the quote that you pulled from that profile that reveals teamwork and working together. I hope one day I would find my calling and love to wake up every morning and being excited to go to work. I'm really glad that your mom is there to support you!
