Journal 9- Teylar

A laser removal tattoo gun
My favorite profile so far would have to be about the ink removal specialist Dawn Maestas. I found it it interesting that through the pain and suffering that she experienced first hand, helped her find her passion. I was really interested and wanted to know what type of training that you had to go through in order to have that occupation.
Through research from the Tattoo Removal Institute, I learned that the shortest program you can take to be certified is 17 days. I also learned that each course taken explains different things like how tattoos change the composition of the skin over time, proper laser removal techniques, and the risks or benefits from removing tattoos with lasers.
This profile had a large impact on my life because it makes me think of my cousin, Katrina who was murdered by her then, boyfriend at the time. He was really abusive towards her and wouldn't let her do certain things like talk to her family. After she passed, my uncle Arthur, her dad used that as an opportunity to open up a shelter for abused and battered women.

  1. I also found it interesting how she found her passion through pain. 17 days, that’s crazy! So sorry about your cousin, that is a very touching story.

  2. Hey Teylar! I enjoyed reading your post! I'm glad that she found her passion and that her experiences helped her. Also, now she can help others and understand what they have been through. I'm so sorry about your cousin Katrina and what happened was awful! I'm thrilled to hear that your uncle opened a shelter to help other women who have been through events like this.
